After Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, the USA imposed sanctions on many Russian diplomats, especially Russian President Vladimir Putin. In Russia, in response to US sanctions, it imposed sanctions on 13 US diplomats, including US President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In the list of sanctions published on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “US President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, US Chief of Staff Mark Milley, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, CIA Director William Burns, White House Spokesperson Jen Psaki, Daleep Singh, Deputy Economic Advisor to the US National Security Council, Director of the US Development Agency Samantha Jane Power, Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo and Chairman and Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank President Reta Jo Lewis was featured.
In the statement, it was underlined that this decision was taken in retaliation for the US sanctions decision, and it was stated that the said sanctions list would be expanded by including US deputies, ministers, soldiers, businessmen and anti-Russian journalists.
On the other hand, the USA imposed sanctions on Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and many Russian diplomats, deputies and oligarchs, apart from Putin.
